When Capt. Kenny Brown decided to create an Industrial Maritime Competition that focused on SAFE WORK PRACTICES, SKILL and STAMINA, his goal was to create an entertainment event for spectators that would ultimately draw the best mariners from around the United States .
Each year the competition’s rules and judging criteria will be modified to highlight the safest, most efficient line handlers and tow builders in the industry, while encouraging best safe work practices and rewarding spirited mariners who push themselves to become the best in the industry.
Today the MARITIME THROWDOWN offers over $2500.00 cash to its winners with plans in the future to increase the prizes with the support of our sponsors.
The MARITIME THROWDOWN is a unique competition, by mixing mariner’s skills with the world of sports, the excitement generates a venue that draws the attention of the maritime industry and media.

The Maritime Throwdown 2018 final competition will be held October 13 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, La.
This November 28-30 will be the first 2019 regional qualifier being held at the 2018 International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans !
“The Maritime Throwdown is an industrial maritime competition dedicated to increasing skill, safety and physical fitness, while also introducing career-minded individuals to our industry,” Brown said.
Brown said the 2018 Maritime Throwdown competition will feature the THROWDOWN COURSE, a timed line handling obstacle course; the Anchored in Muscle Challenge, longest single-part line thrown and caught; and the C-Hero life ring toss. Cash awards for winners at the 2018 Maritime Throwdown will exceed $5000.00 cash and prizes!
